New Delhi, 2025: The nation is gearing up to mark its 79th Independence Day on August 15, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the celebrations from the historic Red Fort in Delhi. This year’s theme, ‘Naya Bharat’, reflects the country’s commitment to building a prosperous, secure, and confident India as it moves towards the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
The grand event will feature the unfurling of the National Flag, a 21-gun salute by the 1721 Field Battery (Ceremonial) using indigenous 105mm Light Field Guns, and a flower-petal shower from Indian Air Force Mi-17 helicopters. For the first time, 11 Agniveer Vayu musicians will join the Air Force band in playing the National Anthem.
This year’s celebrations will also honor the success of Operation Sindoor, with its logo displayed at Gyanpath and on invitation cards. The event will see the participation of over 2,500 NCC cadets and ‘My Bharat’ volunteers, who will form the ‘Naya Bharat’ logo on Gyanpath.
Around 5,000 special guests from across India — including medal-winning athletes, top-performing farmers, entrepreneurs, authors, youth achievers, and beneficiaries of various government schemes — have been invited to witness the occasion. More than 1,500 people in traditional attire from different states and union territories will also attend.
To ensure smooth public participation, the government has arranged cloak rooms, wheelchair assistance, help desks, extra parking, and early metro services starting at 4 AM.
In the run-up to Independence Day, the Ministry of Defence and MyGov organized competitions, including essays, quizzes, painting contests, and creative reels, with 1,000 winners joining the celebrations. Later in the evening, patriotic military band performances will be held at over 140 prominent locations across the country by bands from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, and various paramilitary forces.
This Independence Day promises to be a vibrant showcase of India’s unity, progress, and determination to achieve its vision of a developed nation by 2047.
