Several parts of Odisha are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms over the next three days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a Yellow Warning for nine districts on Tuesday.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Yellow Warning For 9 Districts
The weather is expected to remain unsettled in several parts of the state, with thunderstorms and lightning likely during the forecast period.
People in the nine districts under the Yellow Warning have been advised to remain alert, particularly during periods of lightning and thunderstorms.
Thunderstorms, Gusty Winds Expected
On October 7 and 8, most districts of Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning, except Malkangiri, Nuapada and Balangir.
The IMD has also forecast gusty winds of 40 to 50 kmph during this period. Strong winds combined with thunderstorms could affect normal activities and create hazardous conditions in exposed areas.
IMD Advises Caution
Residents have been advised to closely follow weather updates and take necessary precautions during thunderstorm and lightning activity.
People are particularly advised to avoid open areas and seek shelter in safe buildings when lightning or thunderstorms occur.
