The Odisha government has released the fifth instalment of the CM-KISAN scheme, providing financial assistance to more than 41 lakh small and marginal farmers across the state. Vulnerable tribal groups and landless farming families have also been given special priority under the latest disbursement.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi released the assistance at a programme organised at the Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
Rs 2,000 Transferred Directly To Farmers
Under the fifth instalment, eligible beneficiaries received Rs 2,000 each through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
More than Rs 833 crore was disbursed under the latest phase of financial assistance. The direct transfer mechanism is intended to ensure that the money reaches beneficiaries’ bank accounts without the involvement of intermediaries.
The latest instalment is expected to provide timely financial support to farming families as they prepare for the upcoming agricultural season.
Assistance To Help Farmers Prepare For Rabi Crop
Speaking at the programme, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the assistance was being released in advance so that farmers could make necessary preparations for the Rabi crop.
The financial support can help beneficiaries purchase essential agricultural inputs, including seeds, fertilisers and other materials required for cultivation.
The government has placed particular emphasis on ensuring that vulnerable sections of the farming community receive the benefits of the scheme.
Tribal And Landless Families Get Special Focus
The latest CM-KISAN disbursement also covers vulnerable tribal groups and landless farmer families, in addition to small and marginal farmers.
The inclusion of these groups is aimed at extending financial support to farming households that may face greater challenges in arranging resources for cultivation.
With the fifth instalment now being credited through DBT, beneficiaries are expected to receive the assistance directly in their registered bank accounts.
