A massive Indian Army recruitment rally began at Gopabandhu Stadium in Paradip, Odisha, on Thursday, drawing thousands of young aspirants hoping to secure a place in the armed forces and serve the nation.
The recruitment drive is being conducted for candidates from Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim, with participants undergoing various stages of the selection process for recruitment as Agniveers.
Agniveer Recruitment For Coastal Odisha
The selection process for youths from 10 coastal districts of Odisha is scheduled to begin from Friday as part of the ongoing recruitment exercise.
Candidates will have to undergo the prescribed selection procedures as they compete for available positions in the Indian Army. The final three days of the rally have been earmarked for candidates seeking recruitment to clerical positions.
The large turnout at the stadium reflected the interest among young people seeking a career in the armed forces.
Army Targets Around 5,000 Agniveers From Odisha
The Indian Army has set a target of selecting around 5,000 Agniveers from Odisha during this year’s recruitment exercise.
Of this total, approximately 1,500 selections are expected from the state’s 10 coastal districts, providing an opportunity for a large number of youths from the region to join the Army.
According to Jagatsinghpur District Labour Officer Ajit Kumar Uttarai, the recruitment process will continue from September 3 to September 17.
He said nearly 7,000 candidates are expected to participate in the recruitment process, which is being organised across three zones.
Youths Undergo Selection Tests
The recruitment rally is giving candidates an opportunity to demonstrate their physical fitness, discipline and determination as they seek to qualify for Army service.
Aspirants participating in the rally have travelled to Paradip with the ambition of becoming Agniveers and beginning a career dedicated to serving the country.
The recruitment exercise is expected to continue until September 17, with candidates from different districts and states participating in the selection process.
