Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart, directed by Hardik Gajjar, has made a steady start at the box office after hitting theatres on May 7.
The devotional drama opened modestly but gathered momentum over its first weekend, with collections rising sharply from Friday through Sunday — a sign of improving audience traction and positive word-of-mouth.
Opening day begins on a moderate note
On its first day in theatres, Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart earned ₹42 lakh.
Released on a Thursday, the film was screened across 510 shows and registered an occupancy of around 18 percent. While the opening was measured, it laid the foundation for stronger numbers in the following days.
Strong weekend growth boosts collections
The film witnessed a significant jump on Friday, collecting ₹1.15 crore across 1,549 shows, despite a slightly lower occupancy of 15.2 percent due to the larger screen count.
Momentum strengthened further on Saturday, when the devotional drama collected ₹2.25 crore from 1,713 shows, with occupancy climbing to 27.5 percent.
Its best performance came on Sunday.
On day four, Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart earned ₹3.5 crore, screened across 1,995 shows, while occupancy rose sharply to 37.7 percent.
The Sunday jump suggests the film benefited from weekend family audiences and growing interest among devotees and mythology-drama viewers.
Opening weekend total reaches ₹7.32 crore
With consistent day-on-day growth, Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart closed its first four days with a domestic box office total of ₹7.32 crore.
For a devotional release, the upward trajectory is being seen as encouraging, especially as audience response appears to have strengthened over the opening weekend.
First chapter of a larger devotional trilogy
The film serves as the opening chapter of the Krishnavataram trilogy.
Inspired by the Brahma Vaivarta Purana, traditionally attributed to Vyasa, the story explores the emotional and spiritual aftermath of Krishna’s separation from Radha.
The narrative then moves into his life with Rukmini and Sathyabhama, blending devotion, mythology and emotional drama.
Cast and production
The film stars Siddharth Gupta as Krishna.
Sushmitha Bhat plays Radha, Nivaashiyni Krishnan appears as Rukmini, while Sanskruti Jayana essays Sathyabhama.
The supporting cast includes Jantee Hazarika, Karthik Jayaram, Amanjot Singh, and Smrithi Srikanth.
The project has been jointly produced by Creativeland Studios Entertainment and Athasrikatha Motion Pictures.
