CBSE Issues Guidelines for Class 10 Second Board Exam 2026; LOC Submission Begins April 16

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released detailed instructions for principals and heads of affiliated schools regarding the submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) and payment of examination fees for the Class 10 Second Board Examination 2026.

The Board stated that the LOC will be finalised after the declaration of results, in continuation of its earlier circular issued on March 17, 2026. Schools have been asked to strictly follow the prescribed schedule and guidelines.

Submission Schedule and Deadlines

CBSE has outlined a phased timeline for LOC submission and fee payment:

  • First Phase (Fee Payment): April 16 (noon) to April 20, 2026
  • Second Phase (LOC Submission + Fee Payment): April 16 to April 20, 2026
  • Third Phase (With Late Fee): April 21 to April 22, 2026

The Board has clearly stated that no modifications will be allowed once the LOC submission process is completed.

Key Instructions for Schools and Students

CBSE has issued several important directions:

  • Students who did not register earlier can now submit their names along with the fee
  • Already registered candidates can complete fee payment
  • Students not willing to appear may withdraw their names

Mathematics Option Change:

  • Mathematics (Standard) ↔ Mathematics (Basic) can be interchanged
  • No changes allowed in any other subjects

Eligibility and Exam Provisions

The Board has clarified eligibility criteria for the Second Board Examination:

  • Students who have passed can improve performance in up to three subjects (Science, Mathematics, Social Science, Languages)
  • Compartment candidates can appear under the same category and also opt for improvement as per rules
  • Students in the ER (Essential Repeat) category are not eligible

LOC for first-time compartment candidates must be submitted only by their respective schools.

Special Provisions and Important Notes

Facilities for Children With Special Needs (CWSN) will continue as per existing norms, but no new registrations will be permitted.

CBSE also stated that if a candidate submits the LOC and pays the fee but does not appear for the examination, their main exam 2026 result will be treated as final.

The Second Board Examination will be conducted based on the same syllabus as the main examination.

Schools have been advised to carefully verify student details and ensure accurate and timely submission of LOC and fees within the given schedule to avoid discrepancies.
