For weeks, fans and trade analysts were gearing up for a high-stakes cinematic showdown between Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups starring Yash and Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge headlined by Ranveer Singh. Both films were initially targeting a March 19 Eid weekend release, setting the stage for one of Indian cinema’s biggest box office clashes of 2026.
However, in a strategic move, Toxic has now shifted its release to June 4, 2026, effectively avoiding the anticipated face-off.
Middle East Uncertainty Prompts Strategic Decision
On Wednesday, Yash addressed fans through social media, explaining the rationale behind the postponement.
He revealed that Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was envisioned as a global cinematic project, filmed in Kannada and English to appeal to audiences worldwide. According to the actor, the decision to delay the release was influenced by ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East, which could impact the film’s global outreach and distribution plans.
The statement emphasised that the choice was made after careful consideration, prioritising both international partners and audiences. The film will now hit cinemas worldwide in English and multiple Indian languages on June 4, 2026.
A Global-Scale Cinematic Ambition
Directed by Geetu Mohandas and co-written by Yash, Toxic promises a bold narrative style and expansive storytelling. The film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast including:
-
Kiara Advani
-
Nayanthara
-
Huma Qureshi
-
Rukmini Vasanth
-
Tara Sutaria
The teaser release had already generated massive excitement by unveiling intriguing characters from the world of Toxic. Adding to the buzz, the first single titled Tabaahi was recently launched across multiple languages. While the audio received strong reactions, fans expressed disappointment that the music video—reportedly featuring key characters—has yet to be released.
The Clash That Almost Happened
The potential Eid weekend clash between Yash and Ranveer Singh had industry watchers predicting record-breaking numbers and divided screens across India and overseas markets. Though the head-to-head battle has now been avoided, anticipation surrounding both projects remains intense.
With the new June 4 release date locked in, fans are now marking their calendars for what promises to be one of 2026’s most ambitious cinematic offerings.
