Koraput, Odisha (Nov 6): The first signs of winter have begun to make their presence felt in Odisha, particularly in the hilly terrains of Koraput district, marking a refreshing change in weather across the state’s southern region.
Until recently, residents only felt a mild nip in the air during the early mornings and late evenings—especially before the cyclone Montha alert. However, over the past two days, temperatures have dropped noticeably, with dense morning fog blanketing several areas including Narayanpatna, Laxmipur, and Semiliguda.
As cold winds sweep through the valleys, locals have started pulling out their sweaters, shawls, and blankets, embracing the seasonal chill. Early risers can be seen crowding around roadside tea stalls, sipping steaming cups of tea and chatting about the sudden dip in mercury levels.
The fog-covered hills and dew-kissed forests have enhanced the district’s natural beauty, as the first light of dawn filters through the misty landscapes—offering a picturesque start to winter.
Speaking to OTV, a resident of Narayanpatna shared,
“The cold wave has set in after the cyclone Montha. It has been very cold for the last two days. Forests and mountains are covered with fog and dew. It feels nice and relaxing as we gather at tea stalls in the morning.”
Another local added,
“It’s been very cold for the past two to three days after the rain. There is fog everywhere until 6:30 a.m.”
While most locals are enjoying the seasonal change after weeks of humid weather, farmers have mixed feelings. They say the cool climate is pleasant, but a sharp fall in temperature too early could harm standing crops if the chill intensifies prematurely.
As Odisha gradually transitions from post-monsoon humidity to early winter freshness, the Koraput hills have once again donned their misty charm—inviting both locals and tourists to experience the tranquil beauty of southern Odisha’s cold mornings.
