Abhishek Bachchan Wins First Best Actor Award at 70th Filmfare Awards 2025 for I Want To Talk

Marking a major milestone in his 25-year journey in cinema, Abhishek Bachchan bagged his first-ever Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Male) for his heartfelt performance in I Want To Talk at the 70th Filmfare Awards 2025 held on Sunday.

The win — long-awaited by fans and the actor alike — came for his role as a terminally ill father trying to reconnect with his daughter in Shoojit Sircar’s emotional drama.

“A Dream 25 Years in the Making”

An emotional Abhishek took the stage to a standing ovation and expressed his deep gratitude to his family and mentors. “This year marks 25 years in the industry, and I can’t count how many times I’ve practised a speech for this award,” he said, visibly moved.

He humorously added, “Kartik (Aaryan), theher jao tum abhi, tum sambhal jao tab tak,” drawing laughter from the audience.

The actor went on to thank all the directors and producers who had believed in him through his ups and downs: “It’s not been easy, but it has definitely been worth it.”

A Tribute to Family and Legacy

Bachchan’s speech reached its emotional peak when he dedicated the award to his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya — as well as to his father, Amitabh Bachchan.

“To Aishwarya and Aaradhya, thank you for allowing me to go out and follow my dreams,” he said. “This film is about a father and daughter, and I dedicate it to my hero — my father — and to my other hero — my daughter.”
