Odisha Approves Additional Rs 100.83 Crore for Puri Development

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved an additional Rs 100.83 crore for development projects in Puri under the ABADHA scheme (Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture).

With the additional allocation, the total estimated cost of the projects has increased from Rs 557.19 crore to Rs 658.03 crore. The funds will support infrastructure expansion and improvements to facilities for pilgrims and visitors to the holy city.

Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre to Get Major Expansion

A significant portion of the additional funding will be used for the expansion of the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre (JBPC) and its associated facilities.

As part of the plan, the state government has decided to construct a multipurpose hall with a seating capacity of 2,000 people on the fifth floor of the pilgrim centre. The proposed facility is expected to provide additional space for gatherings, events and other activities.

The expansion of the centre’s market complex is also included in the development plan, with the aim of strengthening the facilities available to pilgrims and visitors.

Sri Setu and Musa River Projects Included

The additional allocation will also support the expansion of Sri Setu and development works associated with the Musa River.

The revised project cost follows the inclusion of additional construction work in the existing development plans, increasing the overall financial requirement.

These infrastructure projects form part of the broader effort to improve connectivity, public amenities and visitor facilities in Puri.

CM Assures Adequate Funding for Puri Development

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assured that the state government will provide the funds required for Puri’s development.

Emphasising the importance of the city as the abode of Lord Jagannath, the Chief Minister said there would be no shortage of funds for projects aimed at improving its infrastructure and amenities.

The additional allocation under the ABADHA scheme is expected to support ongoing development work and strengthen facilities for the large number of devotees who visit Puri throughout the year.
