Odisha has reported three COVID-19 cases so far, with all infected individuals in stable condition, Public Health Director Dr. Rabindranath Mishra confirmed on Thursday. Health authorities have assured the public that the situation remains under control and there is no cause for panic.
According to Dr. Mishra, two of the COVID-19 patients are currently in home isolation, while the third is undergoing treatment at a hospital. All three patients are responding well, and none has developed severe symptoms or complications associated with the infection.
Health Department Assures Public
Addressing concerns over the recent cases, Dr. Mishra said the overall COVID-19 situation in Odisha is not serious and that the virus has become significantly less severe compared to previous waves.
“There is nothing to worry about; everyone is fine. Two people are in isolation, and the patient admitted to the medical college is also stable and in good condition. The patient has other underlying health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and some stroke-related complications,” he said.
The Public Health Director further explained that COVID-19 is now behaving more like a seasonal viral illness.
“Currently, COVID has become similar to a common cold and fever, much like influenza. The virus has weakened considerably, and there is no such severity associated with it now. People should not panic,” Dr. Mishra added.
Authorities Continue Surveillance
The Health Department said it is closely monitoring the situation and maintaining surveillance across the state. Officials have reiterated that all necessary precautionary measures are in place to detect and manage any new cases promptly.
Medical authorities are also keeping track of the health condition of the infected individuals while continuing routine monitoring to prevent any potential spread.
Earlier Ganjam Case Drew Attention
The latest update comes days after one person tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha’s Ganjam district on July 22. The patient was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital (MKCGMCH), Berhampur, for treatment.
The case had attracted attention as neighbouring Andhra Pradesh was reporting a rise in COVID-19 infections around the same period. However, officials had not disclosed the source of infection and maintained that the situation remained under control.
With only three confirmed cases reported so far and all patients remaining stable, the Odisha Health Department has urged people to remain cautious but reassured that there is no immediate public health concern.
