Odisha Temperature to Rise by 2–3°C in Next 24 Hours

The day temperature across Odisha is expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next 24 hours, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). After this increase, meteorologists have said that no significant change in maximum temperature is likely across most districts of the state for the following few days.

Rain and Thunderstorm Likely in Northern Districts

As per the forecast, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms may occur at isolated places in districts such as Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Deogarh until the morning of March 13.

Most other districts of the state are likely to experience mainly dry weather conditions during this period.

Yellow Warning for Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds

The IMD has issued a Yellow Warning for several districts, cautioning residents about the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph.

The warning applies to isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak and Sundergarh districts.

Fog Likely in Early Morning Hours

Weather officials have also predicted shallow to moderate fog during the early morning hours in districts including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Balasore, Bhadrak and Dhenkanal. Reduced visibility may affect early morning travellers and commuters in these areas.

Dry Weather Expected Till March 15

Between March 13 and March 15, most parts of the state are likely to witness predominantly dry weather, and no major weather warnings have been issued during this period.

Rainfall Activity May Increase After March 15

However, rainfall activity is expected to increase again from March 15 onwards. Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms may occur at isolated places in several districts including Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati districts.

A Yellow Warning has again been issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak, where thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds up to 30–40 kmph are likely.

Thunderstorm Activity May Expand After March 16

From March 16 to March 17, rain and thunderstorm activity may spread to more districts including Angul, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada, along with several coastal and northern districts of the state.

Similar thunderstorm alerts have been issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundergarh, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.

Between March 17 and March 19, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are expected at isolated places in districts such as Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati, while the remaining districts are likely to experience dry weather.

Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms and lightning events, while early morning travellers in northern districts should drive carefully due to fog and reduced visibility.
