Veteran Bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, triggering concern among fans and members of the film industry. According to reports citing hospital sources, the senior writer is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The exact reason for his hospitalisation and details about his medical condition have not yet been officially disclosed.

Soon after news of his admission emerged, several family members were seen arriving at the hospital. Actor Salman Khan, along with daughter Alvira Khan Agnihotri and sons Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, visited to be by his side. Visuals circulating on social media show Salman Khan leaving the hospital premises under tight security, keeping a low profile and avoiding media interaction. Fans across platforms have been sharing messages and prayers, wishing the veteran writer a speedy recovery.

Salim Khan is regarded as one of the most influential writers in Hindi cinema history. After beginning his career with small acting roles, he rose to prominence as a screenwriter through his iconic partnership with Javed Akhtar. The duo, popularly known as Salim–Javed, transformed mainstream Bollywood storytelling in the 1970s and 1980s with high-impact scripts and memorable characters.

Their landmark films such as Zanjeer, Deewar, and Don played a crucial role in shaping the “angry young man” image of Amitabh Bachchan and redefining commercial Hindi cinema. Even after the writing pair parted ways, Salim Khan continued to contribute to films as an independent writer, delivering several notable projects through the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Born on November 24, 1935, Salim Khan recently celebrated his 90th birthday. He married Salma Khan (born Sushila Charak) in 1964, and the couple have four children — Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail and Alvira. In 1981, he married actor Helen, and the family later adopted Arpita Khan. He remains widely respected as a pioneering creative force in Indian cinema.
