IMD Predicts Dry Weather in Odisha for a Week; Morning Fog to Affect Coastal and South Coastal Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dry weather conditions across Odisha for the next seven days, bringing relief from rainfall-related disruptions. However, the weather agency has also cautioned residents about shallow to moderate fog during early morning hours, particularly in coastal and south coastal districts, which may impact visibility and daily travel routines.

According to the latest IMD weather bulletin, foggy conditions are likely at isolated locations during early morning hours, especially between late night and sunrise. Reduced visibility could affect road traffic, rail movement, and early morning commuters, prompting authorities to advise caution.

Day-wise Fog Forecast for Odisha

Day 1 (Up to 8:30 AM, February 9):
Shallow to moderate fog is very likely at one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, and Puri districts. The rest of the state is expected to experience dry weather.

Day 2 (February 9–10):
Fog conditions may persist during early morning hours over parts of South Coastal Odisha, particularly in Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapada districts. No rainfall activity is expected across the state.

Day 3 (February 10–11):
The IMD has predicted shallow to moderate fog at isolated locations in South Coastal Odisha, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapada. Dry weather will continue statewide.

Day 4 (February 11–12):
Early morning fog is likely at one or two places in Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Bhadrak districts, while the remaining areas will remain dry.

Day 5 (February 12–13):
Districts including Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, and Kendrapada may witness shallow to moderate fog during morning hours. No significant weather disturbances are anticipated.

Days 6 and 7 (February 13–15):
The IMD has forecast completely dry weather across all districts of Odisha, with no fog or rainfall warnings issued during this period.

Advisory for Commuters and Farmers

Meteorological officials have advised early morning commuters and drivers to remain alert in fog-prone areas due to the possibility of reduced visibility. Farmers and outdoor workers are also encouraged to plan agricultural and field activities carefully during early hours to avoid inconvenience.

At present, no weather warnings have been issued for Odisha, indicating stable weather conditions across the state for the coming week.
