The much-awaited Gopalpur Beach Festival 2026 began today with a magnificent inauguration ceremony, transforming the scenic coastline of southern Odisha into a vibrant hub of culture, tradition, spirituality, and celebration.
Inaugurating the evening programme as the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati said that Gopalpur represents a unique blend of history and modernity, where tradition walks hand in hand with progress. He highlighted Odisha’s deep-rooted global outlook, self-confidence, and progressive thinking, recalling the legacy of the ancient Sadhabas of Kalinga, who crossed oceans to promote trade, culture, and values. He emphasized that coastal regions like Gopalpur will play a vital role in India’s journey towards sustainable and inclusive development, with tourism acting as a strong pillar for local economic growth.
Law, Works and Excise Minister Shri Prithviraj Harichandan described the Gopalpur Beach Festival as one of Odisha’s finest cultural festivals, stating that Ganjam district holds a prestigious position in the fields of art, literature, culture, and music.
Commerce & Transport, Steel & Mines Minister Shri Bibhuti Bhushan Jena said the festival has been organized on a grand scale with a perfect blend of art, culture, beach sports, Pallishree Mela, and the Food Festival. He added that the event aims to attract tourists not only from Odisha but from across India and abroad, establishing Gopalpur as a globally recognized coastal tourism destination.
The festival witnessed the presence of several distinguished guests, including Minister Shri Gokulananda Mallik, Khalikote MLA Shri Purnachandra Sethi, Sorada MLA Shri Nilamani Bisoyi, Kabisuryanagar MLA Shri Pratap Chandra Nayak, Gopalpur NAC Chairperson A. Janaki Rao, Padma Shri Sudarshan Pattnaik, IG Shri Nitin Keshar, District Collector Shri V. Keerthi Vasan, SP Shri Shubendu Kumar Patra, and BMC Commissioner Shri Prathamesh Arvind Rajasirke, who praised the grand organization of the festival.

The cultural stage was dedicated in the name of Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja, symbolizing Odisha’s rich literary and cultural heritage.
A spiritually charged beginning marked the festival earlier in the day with a grand torch procession starting simultaneously from Maa Taratarini Temple (Purushottampur), Maa Balakumari Temple (Chikiti), and Maa Kulada Devi Temple (near Bhanjanagar). The processions converged near Narayanpur village and proceeded to Gopalpur Beach under the leadership of Minister Shri Bibhuti Bhushan Jena. There, saints from Varanasi performed a unique Sea Aarti, a first-of-its-kind spiritual आयोजन on the Odisha coast, formally inaugurating the festival.
The Star Nights cultural programme enthralled thousands of spectators with mesmerizing performances by Bollywood singer B Praak, Ollywood singer Kuldeep Pattnaik, Odissi dance guru Shashwat Joshi, Ananya Das, and several local artists.

Multiple cultural venues added vibrancy to the celebrations. At Narendrapur Kalabikash Kendra (Badakushasthali), the programme began with traditional Ranapa dance. Other centres featured a wide range of classical, folk, and contemporary performances including Odissi, Sambalpuri, Kuchipudi, Bihu, Naga dance, Ghumura dance, modern dance, and classical dance, presented by renowned cultural institutions and artists from across Odisha and India, including an international artist from Rajasthan.
A massive Pallishree Mela with around 250 stalls has been organized, showcasing products of Self Help Groups, handicrafts, handlooms, industrial units, and local entrepreneurs from across the country. Alongside, the Food Festival features about 50 food stalls, offering a rich variety of traditional and regional cuisines of Odisha for visitors and tourists.
With its perfect blend of culture, spirituality, tourism, art, music, heritage, and community participation, the Gopalpur Beach Festival 2026 has begun on a grand note, promising an unforgettable experience for visitors from Odisha, India, and abroad.
