A small aircraft crashed near Jalda A Block in the Raghunathpali area of Rourkela, triggering panic among local residents and prompting an emergency response from district authorities. According to preliminary information, six people sustained injuries in the accident and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Odisha Transport Minister confirmed that the aircraft involved was a 9-seater plane that was on a scheduled flight from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela. The crash reportedly occurred after the aircraft had flown approximately 10 kilometres before it went down under circumstances that are still unclear.
Rescue Operation and Medical Response
Soon after the crash, local residents alerted the authorities, following which rescue teams, police personnel and emergency services rushed to the spot. The injured passengers were safely evacuated from the crash site and shifted to a nearby medical facility. Hospital sources said that the injured are currently under observation, and their condition is being closely monitored.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud noise before the aircraft came down, after which debris was seen scattered in the surrounding area. Police cordoned off the crash site to prevent crowding and ensure smooth conduct of rescue and investigation work.
