Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ Storms Box Office, Enters ₹1000 Crore Club in Just 21 Days

Aditya Dhar’s high-octane spy thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, has emerged as one of the biggest cinematic success stories of 2025. Released on December 5 with relatively low-key promotions, the film has not only exceeded industry expectations but has also rewritten box office records by becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of the year.

Within just 21 days of its release, Dhurandhar crossed the coveted ₹1000 crore mark worldwide, officially entering the elite ₹1000 crore club. With a total collection of ₹1006.7 crore so far, the film has become the ninth Indian movie to achieve this rare milestone, underlining its massive appeal across domestic and international markets.

A Strong Hold Despite Minimal Promotions

Unlike many big-budget releases that rely on aggressive marketing campaigns, Dhurandhar opened quietly but benefitted immensely from strong word of mouth, positive audience response and repeat viewership. Trade analysts credit the film’s gripping narrative, slick action sequences and Ranveer Singh’s powerful performance for its sustained box office momentum.

The film’s steady collections over three weeks reflect its strong hold at theatres, a factor that has helped it outperform several heavily promoted releases this year.

Joining India’s Elite ₹1000 Crore Club

The ₹1000 crore club was first entered by SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in 2017, which collected ₹1788.06 crore worldwide. Soon after, Dangal, starring Aamir Khan and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, surpassed it following its release in China, eventually becoming the only Indian film to cross the ₹2000 crore mark with a staggering ₹2070 crore haul. Dangal continues to hold the record as the highest-grossing Indian film of all time.

Since then, only a handful of films have managed to reach the four-digit box office figure. Rajamouli’s RRR (2022) collected around ₹1230 crore, followed closely by Prashanth Neel’s KGF Chapter 2, which earned ₹1215 crore worldwide. In 2023, Atlee’s Jawan and Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan joined the club with collections of ₹1160 crore and ₹1055 crore respectively. Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD became the latest entrant in 2024 with ₹1042.25 crore.

Now, Dhurandhar has added its name to this prestigious list as 2025 draws to a close, cementing its place among Indian cinema’s biggest blockbusters.

What Lies Ahead

With its theatrical run still ongoing, industry observers are keenly watching how far Dhurandhar can go in terms of lifetime collections. Given its current pace and audience interest, the film may continue to add significantly to its total in the coming weeks.

For Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar marks yet another landmark in his career, while for director Aditya Dhar, the film reinforces his standing as a filmmaker capable of delivering large-scale, content-driven commercial successes.
